I'm the foreman for the county secondary road crew. I get up at a quarter to four, then I go online and read the local news. On my way to work, I eat a Pop-Tart.

My grandfather was the doctor in town for fifty years. My dad is retired from Amana Refrigeration. I've been at my job for twenty-six years, from the day I graduated high school. I once had a job offer in Missouri, but I got cold feet.

I have three kids from my current marriage and three from my previous marriage. My first wife and I were high school sweethearts. We broke up after five years of marriage. Maybe I could have done something different. Maybe not.

We separated in 1989. I was pretty gun shy for a while. I dated a girl for seven years, and I didn't get remarried for thirteen years. I met Aja one summer when she was working for the county. I'm seventeen years older than she is. Her father didn't like that, but now he and I get along fine.

My oldest son isn't doing much these days, and that's a disappointment. He's been in jail a couple of times. His purpose in life seems to be deer or pheasant hunting.
